Catching the Moment

Participating in
Come on and join the fun!

1.  What am I reading?
Laughing out loud at the antics of Stephanie Plum in the series by Janet Evanovich.  Stephanie simply cannot seem to keep a car, no matter new, old, or in between.  It's always a chuckle to see just what happens to her vehicles.
Ka-boom!

2.  What am I watching?
These days my mother's movie of choice is a Hallmark Christmas movie.  So there is sure to be one playing for some part of the afternoon or evening.

3.  What am I listening to?
My choir is hard at work learning and perfecting the Christmas Cantata.  We are performing The Father's Night of Love in a couple of weeks and are working out the tough parts now.  So that is what is in the cd player all of the time!

4.  What am I loving?
Just put up the Christmas tree and pulled out a selection of Santas for decorating the house.  My favorite part of the holidays.

5.  What am I wearing?
Staying as comfortable as possible with jeans and t-shirts most of the time.  I usually top that off with my fuzzy-lined slippers.  Ahhh.  Comfort.

6.  What am I creating?
Have written two new arrangements for the choir for this month.  Also, working on finishing a counted cross-stitch piece that should have been finished weeks ago!

7.  What am I looking forward to?
All of my children and their spouses and their children will be with us for Christmas.  It is always a houseful, but so much fun.
I am also looking forward to re-aligning my goals and beginning some
new routines to start the new year.

Compared to all of you creative folks out there, I sound like the little
old grandma from down the street.  Hoping to recognize my
creative soul in there somewhere!

    1. Wow! A good pianist is always in demand. I used to have to accompany the choir myself, and now we have moved over to recorded accompaniment as much as possible. But there is still nothing like having live musicians to work with. Thanks for responding.

  2. My goodness! I can't imagine arranging music for choirs to sing. I consider that to be extremely creative!

I'm ready for the Christmas decorations. Or more accurately I think I'm ready for my husband and I to begin accumulating *our* Christmas decorations. What we have are the things I've collected or been given, which are OK, but I'd like a little more continuity. Think I need to talk to him about that this holiday season ;)

    1. When I first was married, my parents gave us a new ornament each year. They are all different and add a sense of nostalgia to the tree. Now that my children are grown and married, I have continued the tradition with them. It is really fun, looking for ornaments that are different each year. Good luck on your decorating.

    1. I never seem to be able to give myself enough credit for writing the arrangements. The original hymns and songs were someone else's work, after all. But I am getting better at accepting that as a creative vein in my life. Thanks for responding. Looking forward to getting to know you, too.

  4. Love your slippers!!! They look super-cozy!

Arranging music is hard! As a former choir member, I really appreciate your hard work!

The Stephanie Plum novels are on my reading list.... need to get through the Nevada Barr series first... too many books, so little time!

    1. Thanks for responding. I was unaware of the Nevada Barr books. That will give me a new author to investigate in January. Looking forward to it.

  5. Wow - have never written music! I love the choirs at Christmas - nothing like listening to those cantatas. Sounds like you will have a busy, happy Christms.

    1. Advent and Lent always take on a life of their own with extra planning and rehearsal time. The rewards are great, however. There's nothing like joyful music for the holidays.

  6. I love the Stephanie Plum series! I am a couple of books behind, but I you are making me want to run to the library right now! That series is so funny...and I love Janet Evanovich's writing style. I've read several of her non-series books, and they are always a fun time!

    1. As you can see from the picture, I am almost finished with the 19th in the series, and number 20 just came out recently. So, sadly, I will have to find other books to enjoy after Christmas. I will be looking for recommendations, if you have any.

  7. I have heard that the Janet Evanovich books were good. I haven't read one yet though.
I wear those fuzzy lined slippers to work! isn't that funny. I'm a massage therapist and I work barefoot but when I am sitting and waiting on my next client my toes get cold, lol
You have a musical talent that many would be envious of. Enjoy each and every day of December!
